This one was a real journey. The client wanted something that'd stand out on the Vancouver skyline without being obnoxious about it. We ended up with this glass-forward design that plays with natural light throughout the day - the building literally changes mood as the sun moves. Got LEED Gold certification too, which wasn't easy but totally worth it.

What I'm most proud of? The ground floor actually invites people in rather than pushing them away like so many corporate towers do. There's this public atrium space that's become a legit hangout spot for folks in the neighborhood.

Building on a hillside always brings its challenges, but man, the views make it all worthwhile. This family wanted a home that'd let them soak in those mountain and ocean views without feeling like they're living in a fishbowl. We designed these strategic window placements and outdoor spaces that give privacy where it matters but open up where it counts.

The interior flow was key here - we made sure you're never more than a few steps from a view that'll make you stop and stare. The kids' rooms look out over the forest, while the master suite catches both sunrise over the mountains and sunset over the water.

Heritage work is tricky - you're basically walking a tightrope between honoring history and making something people can actually live in today. This 1912 brick beauty had seen better days, but the bones were solid. We kept every bit of the original facade, those gorgeous exposed beams, and even salvaged the old wood floors where we could.

Inside though, we went full contemporary. High ceilings, open concepts, all the modern conveniences - but in a way that feels like it belongs there. The contrast between old brick and new fixtures? That's where the magic happens. Each loft's got its own personality while respecting the building's story.

Mixed-use is where urban planning gets interesting. This development's got retail on the ground floor, offices above, and residential units on top. The trick was making sure each layer works independently but also contributes to the whole vibe of the street.

We spent a lot of time thinking about how people move through the space - where they'd naturally want to grab coffee, where they'd cut through to catch the bus, where they'd want to sit outside on a nice day. It's not just about stacking uses on top of each other, it's about creating a little ecosystem that makes the neighborhood better.

This family came to us wanting to build the most sustainable home possible without it looking like a science experiment. Challenge accepted. We packed in solar panels, rainwater collection, a green roof, super-insulated walls - the whole nine yards - but kept the aesthetic clean and livable.

The passive solar design means their heating bills are basically nothing, even in winter. Large south-facing windows, strategic overhangs, thermal mass in all the right places. It's nerdy stuff that most people won't notice, but it makes a massive difference in how the house performs. And yeah, it looks pretty great too.

Restaurant design's all about experience - you're not just creating a place to eat, you're setting the stage for memories. This waterfront spot needed to capitalize on those incredible harbor views while still feeling intimate enough for a romantic dinner.

We went with an open kitchen concept so diners can watch the culinary magic happen, tons of natural materials to keep it warm, and this lighting scheme that shifts from bright and energetic at lunch to moody and sophisticated at dinner. The chef told us it's changed how people interact with the space - they linger longer, they engage more. That's the kind of feedback that makes this job satisfying.
